Think the Earth
Think the Earth Project Activity Report 2002
Since its establishment 2 years ago, Think the Earth has completed various activities, and through launching of new projects and joint projects with sympathetic organizations, it has fledged into a project that not only is the center of focus of companies and NPOs, but of a broader range of people including researchers, students, and designers.

Business Relation
---Creating a system for social contribution through business

With the cooperation of our partners, we were able to further develop existing and brand new projects. Moreover, employing the network we had created in our year of activities, we hosted the "Think the Earth Seminar & Salon", strengthening our relationship with ambitious company contacts, and applied ourselves to the science of and exchanged information on social contribution through business.
    Seminar Theme
  • The concept of social responsibility of a company - Cases in Europe and the U.S., and comparison to Japan
  • Collaboration of companies and NPOs
  • Rediscovering Japanese values applicable to the international society
  • Ecology and Economy in coexistence: 21st Century social design
Aside from the above, we strove to become a project worthy of trust through providing assistance to augment companies' communication on social contribution and environment, as well as for the development of a "associates" program through which a portion of such associate company's sales revenue would be donated to the Think the Earth Project.

Social Relation
---Bequeathing a beautiful Earth to the children of the next generation

As a NPO that provides assistance to NPOs/NGOs, we have provided cooperation in respect to public relations and promotion, but also, we have provided donations to 4 organizations that support children in developing countries. Moreover, we have promoted the hosting of "Seminars & Salons" in which companies participate to NPOs/NGOs. We have aimed to create a network of NPOs whose activities center around social contribution/social design and specialists, and opportunities for Think the Earth to make presentations at meetings and symposiums have increased. Think the Earth Project employed online donation system (please refer to Project 003) to provide emergency assistance to Japan Platform at the time the earthquake in Western Afghanistan and war actions in Iraq occurred. We also made our first attempt at a campaign-style public relations assistance program (please refer to Project 004).

Public Relation
---Think about the Earth, creating opportunities

We augmented the transmission of information mainly radiating from the website. In conjunction with "Think Daily," we endeavored to provided information on a daily basis in respect to new projects and event participation. We recorded 12,000,000 hits on our website this year. Think the Earth Project was awarded "Excellent" Prize" for the NGO division of the Eco-goo Award. Registered members for the mail news rose to 3,500 (as of March 2003). We also actively seeked cooperation with other media through the web, such as publication of serials through the msn Journal, as well as participation in the web link project, "ONWAR."
Think the Earth Project also participated in events throughout the year, accepted student interns and created student network, and applied itself to responding to the inquiries received through mail from individuals seeking working opportunities at NPOs or inquiries about international assistance activities that can be done at an individual level. The Project was introduced in over 100 media this year, and as a result, our recognition improved greatly."
