All around the world there are people known as "eclipse hunters." These are people who are prepared to go almost anywhere to experience a solar eclipse. There a various kinds of eclipse hunters, including those who aim to capture solar eclipses on film or video, those who love the travel, and those who like the excitement.

As well, there are various kinds of activities with an eclipse theme. In Japan, for example, there is a group called LIVE! UNIVERSE. This group seeks to broadcast live on the Internet solar eclipses occurring in various parts of the world. Simply getting to some of these places is hard enough, so unless one is really enthusiastic it can be difficult to actually experience a total solar eclipse. With this in mind, LIVE! UNIVERSE came up with the idea of enabling people around the world to experience solar eclipses via the Internet. One cannot fail to be impressed with the enthusiasm of these people who not only lug the various pieces of video- and computer-related equipment into places that are difficult to even reach, but also do their utmost to secure whatever means of communication they need to broadcast from these places.

There are also people who hold musical events in an effort to liven things up during solar eclipses. To these people, total solar eclipses are "festivals" of a sort. Others use solar eclipses as an opportunity to raise awareness of environmental problems.
