After taking Development Studies in the UK, I worked for the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan . In order to truly understand the situation in developing countries, I joined the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and was assigned to Cebu in the Philippines. During my assignment in Cebu, I met my husband and decided to stay in Manila. My current plan is to take a graduate course in Marine Biology in the Philippines. I hope I can contribute to a better natural environment for marine and human life.http://uminohanashi.blogspot.com

Miracle Lilio
Kigali, Rwanda
I've moved to the country of a thousand hills, Rwanda, Africa from July because of my husband's work transfer to Rwanda. In Rwanda, a lot of projects are going on with international aids in order to reconstruct the country after the Genocide in 1994. The primary agenda here is poverty and economic development. I am going to initiate the projects, which could solve the poverty as well as contribute to environmental restoration. I would like to blow a gentle breeze over the country of a thousand hills to be able to see local people's smile as many as possible.

Working to communicate about the environment and CSR while being tossed about in the megapolis. africanwhale
Zimbabwe
Doesn't have a permanent address, moving from one place to another not only in Japan but also in Alaska State, in the US. Volunteer activities which she took part in during high school days led her to have interest in welfare for the elderly. But an encounter with Africa brought by college seminar study became the turning point in her career. When reached for an anthology of African short stories in secondhand book store where she'd just stepped into, she came across a writer Bessie Head's work by destiny, started doing research in the Republic of South Africa and Botswana in search of her letters and manuscripts. Then she got an MA in Center of African Studies at the University of Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom. Currently she's back in Japan, translates and writes, hoping to tell people in Japan about books by Bessie and her life also about Africa through her works. She describes herself as a future "student of social scientific literature".

madoka oumi
Germany, Munster
Osaka, Japan. From fall of 2002, involved in research for sustainable society and energy policies at the Munster University in Germany. In Munster, a city elected as the environment capital, one may observe great involvement of the city, such as the grand bicycle parking lot by the train station, bicycle lanes mapped all over town, fulfilling aids policies for insulated housing and placement of solar panels, and environmental consultation center that provides innovative ideas for environmental conservation to the citizens. My daily routine at Munster includes browsing the eco-super markets, eco-bakeries, eco-cosmetic stores, and eco-shops. On my free time, I go to the clubs, movie theaters, parks, and forests nearby on my bicycle.
