+ Bamiyan once flourished as a strategic point of land routes.

With the footage of the Taliban destroying the world heritage Buddha statue, this region became famous worldwide. Named heaven on earth, the Bamiyan region had flourished from the ancient Silk Road era as a strategic point in regards to land routes. The beautiful scenery at the riverside never was a sight of battle, thus traces of people's peaceful livelihood can still be seen there.
The Bamiyan region is now under the administration of Hazara guerilla force director, Hariri. Hariri has indicated his commitment to a cooperative relationship with the Karzai administration, and for the moment, peace has returned. However, many soldiers are still stationed at the military bases located in the center of Bamiyan. There are residential areas, however, most of these areas were destroyed, and as a result, many returning refugees with no place to live, live among the ruins. The ruins were inappropriate living quarters in respect to hygiene, and the area directly above was used as a military base, where tactical were carried out day and night and empty shell cartridges fell from the skies.
(With the help of international organizations and NGOs, the returned refugees who lived among the ruins will be moving to new living quarters maintained by the local government.) In the regions where fierce conflict took place between the Taliban and the Hazara guerilla forces, villages were thoroughly destroyed, and villagers lost their livelihoods. After the Taliban forces left, the villages headed towards recovery with the aid from the international organizations and NGOs. Nevertheless, numerous unexploded bombs and landmines buried during the war remain in the land, and the villagers have no choice but to live exposed to such danger.
