the mammals in the zoo will be moved...

in the date of 24June, hong kong government announced to public that, the hong kong zoological and botanical garden will no longer feeding the bigger-sized mammals in the future., for example: 1 tiger and the 8 members of gorillas family .
they said this is following the worldwide trend of the open-air designed of the zoo, and, the continual growing of the animals will reduce the growing area of plants,so that, the animals will be send to other countries or will feed them until they die.
personally, this is a sad news to me, since the animals grow with us, and they are hong kong citizens. i don't think sending them away is an appropriate solution, and it is so nonsense to saying the growing of the animals will reduce and affect the growing of plants.
as a human being, we have the ability and responsibility to care and protect the rights of animals. they are not burden or parcel to let us sending back and forth.
if everything is setted the economic and benefit are the first priority, human being society will be lost from what they have gained.
p.s. i have contacted to the related department through e-mail and they said they are having a six-month consultation from the garden- development experts about this. and they said they will assure this will be a serious consideration, and will keep updating and transperancy to the public.
