How about a stand?
2003/05/30 17:26 53 (GMT)

War is a way for man to dominate others and enforce his will. With this understood, one of intelligence might think that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Why not improve the living conditions of others that are contrary or that warrant control so a greater good may be accomplished. The greater good is the basis for human survival: food water shelter. Someone has to make a first step in the direction of peace, who is willing to stand up? This may seem like a naive statement but all thoughts of this nature are beyond the bounds of politics, race, creed or color and are at the most basic level, a hope that we would treat others as we wish to be treated and share with others what we have in abundance. It is too much to ask that a man expose himself to ridicule and possible expulsion by the standards of society so that his voice can be heard. There is too much to the idea of risk and reward. We want to see the reward materialize before we take the risk. And, of course, this is not reality but a strong and persistent belief in onefs own thoughts and views and what is believed to be right. Why would someone risk loss of all the possessions and most importantly the loss of the individual self so that he may feel good in helping others. There is no reason and only those who have seen the widest scope of unfairness may be willing to take a step. Those who are timid and weak will not risk for others nor will they take command of a situation but merrily follow in the footsteps of those before him. This way the person, the self is not exposed to ridicule for ideas that are beyond the image of self: those images, which, while he canft stand for, is encouraging by his lack of action. The goal of a society is to reign in individual thoughts and structure itfs members to be of one mind, a collective mind. A mind that sees the same as each man does and to the point: acts the same in every circumstance. We cannot admit that being an individual is a danger to society. Individuality is what we strive for, while limiting it at the same time. It is a polar opposite of what is required of us. Does one who makes an effort get the same results as one who does not? Do those who see unrealized potential make efforts on the behalf of others? Why do we as a society allow the suffering, the selfishness, and the cruelty? The fact is we donft allow these things to happen, we encourage it, we aspire to it, we desire it. We are afraid to take a chance, we are afraid of loss and we are not willing to risk.
